Review of the cricket World Cup 2011

Sensational: Sleeves of Kevin O'Brien against England will live long in the memory of the Photo: GETTY IMAGES

What it turned out...
Only 50 overs each side on dry land is by far the best format for a game of cricket one day. The President of the ICC that Sharad Pawar can say this World Cup has been a triumph and was less sterile than the last in the West Indies, but he has yet to give best talents of sport the right step often enough.

There was much too little interesting matches, the majority of the end of the 49 predictable huge margins and much too much travelling to all the parties involved, in a too long period. But these games - high or lower-scoring - between parties evenly matched showed a more than 50 game on dry land may be cricket at its best.

Best run-chase...
Ireland hit off the coast of 328 beat England - with not only three wickets but together five balls remaining. Moreover, the Ireland was 111 for five off 24.2 overs. If any one-day international was won by a more desperate position?

Worst run-chase...
Not even in 222, that they needed to beat New Zealand in the quarter-finals, losing by 49 runs in South Africa.

Bravest sleeves...
Facing a crowd baying in Ahmedabad and calls for his resignation from the Australian captaincy and handicapped by a left finger which is always a painful mess, Ricky Ponting scored a century.

Best individual performance...
Against England, Kevin O'Brien hit 24 off the coast of James Anderson, 24 11 balls off nine balls of Tim Bresnan and 21 offshore of Graeme Swann 11 balls. In all, he hit 113 63 balls.

The best way for England to improve as a 50 over team in light of the general prohibition on more than 50 county cricket, the far-sighted in England and Wales Cricket Board country select Kevin O'Brien, the Ireland and Ryan ten Doeschate, Holland.

Best Asian XI for a match against the best non - Asian XI...
Based largely on the performance in this tournament and in a typical field in this tournament: Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dilshan, Sangakkara (wk/capt), Cosmo, Mathews, Afridi, Harbajan, Zaheer, Malinga and Muralitharan. Twelfth man: Hafeez.

Best non - Asian XI...
Based largely on the performance in this tournament: Watson, Strauss, Trott, Kallis, Villiers (wkt), ten Doeschate, K. O'Brien, Lee, Vettori (capt), Swann and Steyn. Twelfth man: Peterson.

Best collective performance...
Umpires. Top handle are really excellent and does not really need the review system technology decision, except to prove to the world how although they are.

A noble cause...
CCI has done a remarkable job in helping to stigma AIDS, but the sight of a Red Ribbon on the shoulder of international cricket players became too familiar. It would be just as worthy to highlight female infanticide that now continues in South Asia: the India last census reveals there are now only 914 females, even if they live longer, for every 1000 men.

Poignant reminder...
The Taj Mahal in Mumbai - hotel of the world of cricket - is fully operational once more, following the terrorist attack terrifying November 2008. The Windsor through the Park of the MCG in Melbourne and the Hilton Hotel overlooking the Savannah in Port of Spain, have had their moments, but it is always the place.

In addition to players enjoying respite from fans outside, cricket administrators were planning how to ensure that no active politician becomes President of the ICC once again after Pawar.

Security is therefore intense traffic was banned from the Street outside and the door of the India is deserted, but that allows crows to be heard in the trees around the pool. After the violence, once again, songs of birds.
