Lancashire might be top of the county championship, but they suffered a one-day setback against an energetic Glamorgan here.
Glamorgan have been the shorter-game whipping boys for too far long, precipitating last winter's shameful off-field shenanigans, so this was an impressive scalp at this redeveloping ground.
Glamorgan's victory was built on the foundation of Gareth Rees's second one-day century, an excellently-paced 110 not out from 103 balls.
He spent last year in the middle order, where over-complication eventually cost him his place.
But now he has been restored to the top of the order, and is enjoying it, forging a useful partnership with the overseas skipper Alviro Petersen, who struck Anderson for a magnificent straight six in an opening partnership of 78.
Rees has a reverse-sweep with barely a parallel in county cricket but he has learnt better discretion in its use.
He also has power in the stroke as he proved in hitting three huge sixes, two in an over from Simon Kerrigan that took him to 99. He even had the temerity to reverse-scoop Anderson over the keeper for four.
Those who came to watch England fast bowler James Anderson were treated only to a moderate performance on a horribly slow pitch. Anderson bowled two maidens in his first four overs but the other two went for 22, and so sluggish was the surface that wicketkeeper Gareth Cross was soon standing up to the stumps.
Instead it was Glamorgan's rookie fast bowler, Will Owen, who impressed more. Wicketkeeper Mark Wallace certainly wasn't standing up to him.
In his only previous bowl in first-team cricket this season, Owen had disappeared for 40 in two overs during a Peter Trego century at Taunton.
So it showed character to return with such fire here, as well as courage on the part of Glamorgan's management.
He defeated both Karl Brown and Gareth Cross with pace, as he and the medium-paced Jim Allenby stymied Lancashire in mid-innings before rain brought a long delay.
Upon resumption Lancashire required 48 from three overs. Owen took another wicket and Lancashire came nowhere near.
