Tweet of the day: @kevinpp24: "Kids start smoking or try smoking cos its 'cool' ... Tackle the 'coolness' problem & I reckon you'll solve it." (Kevin Pietersen turns his guns to the UK's biggest killer. Cricket's loss is medicine's gain etc ...)

Yesterday at the World Cup
South Africa have confirmed Imran Tahir suffered a fractured thumb when taking a return catch to dismiss Jonathan Trott on Sunday. Tahir is doubtful for the game against India on Saturday but hasn't been ruled out of the tournament.
Pakistan will consider using Umar Akmal as a wicketkeeper in their remaining group games in place of his elder brother Kamran, who endured another disastrous day behind the stumps against New Zealand.
Sri Lanka's team manager, Brian Thomas, has strongly denied reports that the opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan has failed a drugs test. "These are false reports," said Thomas. "They are rubbish."

Your emails:
"Kevin Pietersen is one of the most naturally gifted players of all time and whether he chose it nor not he has been treated differently from all the other members of the team because he is the 'superstar' – except that superstar hasn't performed for years (apart from one flat-track 200 when everyone around him had already got runs). By all means play the superstar, but only if you actually ARE one, not if you're a damp squib," mails David Harrison.
"KP has brought a level of professionalism and a winning mentality to the team which is exactly what we needed to turn us from an average side into a fantastic one, particularly in test match cricket. I'm not denying some of the things KP does do look a bit odd, I would have liked to have seen him out on the field against Ireland, for example, but to deny the positive impact he's had and continues to have on England is to simply ignore our results since he came into the team," adds Jim Murphy.
