Nottinghamshire have been tested by Kirby, who ran in a heavily all day and get and set when he broke the bat but Hales won his battle with county cricket pantomime villain.

Hales has offered two hard chances, including Chris Jones to the external environment where he gets a point off the coast of Kirby, but otherwise he timed the ball beautifully in a 170-ball century which contained 15 fours and a take-off six leads off the coast of Kartik.
