The ashes of 2010: Michael Clarke sustained Australia Captain Ricky Ponting has decided in fourth test

Ponting fractured finger in his left hand three day while trying to claim an edge ratchetting Jonathan Trott.

And he has failed to take the field day four in Australia wrapped a victory of 267 - run at the series of five matches 1-1.

Ponting should be excluded from the consideration of the next day, Clarke, as the current vice captain, would normally be the natural successor and step Ponting footwear.

However, Clarke form this series has been poor, questions raised about his temperament and qualities of directing the Baggy green in the test arena.

Clarke scored just 115 runs this series, with an average of 23 - far from ash last year, where he was the top scorer of the Australia with 448-64.

These fears, however, were disregarded by selector Aussie Greg Chappell, who told the Sydney Morning Herald: "Michael is our next captain." Whenever it may be - we hope that it is not for some time yet - but we are happy with his skills as a master.

"He made a number of times in one day cricket, his tactic is very good." There is no doubt, it is ready for it. »

Chappell also admitted that the Ponting Capitainerie would be under threat should England retain ash - which can be obtained with the victory in any two remaining tests.

"Watching him (Ponting) in the nets, he is well, Angels" said Chappell. "Perhaps the pressure of this series (touched him)." I think that in his own mind that he he built as a very important series.

"He had no mental freedom, that it should, perhaps, fights with freedom, we know that he is able." I hope that could give him the freedom to go out there and play in Melbourne victory here in this match test (Perth), removing some of these pressures, as we know it can. »
